The conference will be open by Mr Jan Fischer, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic

The purpose of the event

Universities are enormous assets for regional development. They have a huge potential for the generation of knowledge which can be transferred into market solutions and supply high-tech companies with skilled employees. Thus there is an increasing demand for Universities taking a proactive role in the processes of regional innovation policy.

This conference is about how to strengthen and establish cooperation between high-tech companies and academic institutions; and how to strengthen the international views and contacts.

Geographically the scope is development of the academia – Industry corporation in Scandinavia and the Czech Republic. Scandinavia has a long tradition with initiatives linking science – innovation and commercialization that can be of use in Central Europe, but also in the Czech Republic there are several aspiring experiences in this field that can serve as inspiration.

During the conference  we shall examine those initiatives and see how they can be applied in a Czech context

The main objectives are to transfer / share knowledge and best practices and, empower the participants to start activities to accelerate the cooperation between the commercial and academic sphere.

It is also an objective to build network relations, between the participants from the Danish and Czech side

With outset in the workshops we shall construct an idea catalogue. This will be used for creating initiatives. This follow up can take the shape of work groups, follow up seminars or project suggestions. CECMI and the BIC at CTU intend to promote and facilitate such initiatives

Thus there will be a tangible output, in form of new potential projects and networks

More specifically we shall deal with the following issues:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Topics:

    • National and international cooperation between Universities
    • How cooperation with the local/regional community can be initiated  by Universities of Technology
    • How to take up a proactive role in processes of regional innovation policy.
    • How to get an applied approach into the educational system
    • How to apply and strengthen the results of academic research
    • How to accelerate the exchange of knowledge internationally
    • How to start up activities that have impact
